Fairview Town Hall

Fairview, Texas

The Town of Fairview is a small rural Collin County community located north of Dallas on Highway 75 between the cities of Allen and McKinney. Although it is located within the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, the Town offers it residents an opportunity for up-scale living in a rural environment. A typical Fairview neighborhood contains large homes on expansive lots, with extensive open spaces, rolling hills, dense wooded areas, and creeks.

Fairview’s population is only 8,000 but the Town’s commercial center the “Village at Fairview” is 800 acres of mixed use development. The Town Hall occupies a prominent site in this development. The building is located at the end of the development’s major east-west axis and serves as a visual focal point for the street.

The Town Hall is Fairview’s primary municipal building and serves as the center for all civic activities. Town officials saw this as an opportunity to express in the building’s design the values that are important to the community. The limestone walls, large porches, and low sloping standing seam metal roofs with large overhangs, create an image that avoids the appearance and feeling like a typical urban municipal building. Instead it is intended to convey the feeling of country life.

The Town of Fairview stresses environmental responsiveness in all development. The building was planned with major focus on “green design” principles. It includes geo-thermal heating/cooling, day-lighting of all work spaces, regional materials, renewal material sources, and energy efficient lighting. The completed project serves as a strong example of Town’s commitment to environmental awareness.
