Melissa Public Safety Courts & Police
Melissa, Texas
The new Melissa Public Safety Building incorporates the City’s Police Department, Municipal Courts, and Fire Administration into a new combined facility. The Police Department includes space for the Administration, C.I.D., Patrol, Records, and Property/Evidence divisions. Spaces include a fitness center, locker rooms, and decompression space. The Municipal Courts part of the building has court offices, service windows, and the courtroom. The Fire Administration area provides offices, conference space, and storage.
The Public Safety Building provides 28,500 square feet of space designed to meet the spatial needs of the Police Department, Municipal Courts, and Fire Administration. The building was also planned to be easily expanded for long term growth needs.
The design of the building was tailored to meet the specific and unique needs of each department and police division. In order to reduce the overall cost of the building, shared and multi-purpose spaces were incorporated into the final design. An example, the courtroom serves as a training room, an emergency operations center, and a safe room for all three departments
