Sunnyvale Town Hall
Sunnyvale, Texas
Sunnyvale is a small community situated on the southwest edge of Lake Ray Hubbard. Although it is only twenty miles east of downtown Dallas, the town maintains its previous rural environment. A large portion of the town is either undeveloped or contains large homes on multi-acre sites.
The Town Hall was the community’s first major building project. City officials saw the new Town Hall project as an opportunity to develop a much needed “Town Center”. The building was planned to be more than just a town hall. It was designed to be the center for all civic activities in Sunnyvale.
Although the building contains all normal town hall functions, it also provides a significant amount of multi-purpose space that can be easily adapted for a variety of community uses.
The building also contains space for the Town’s volunteer fire department. The sloping site allows for all town hall and community activities to occur on the upper level while the lower level contains the fire station and the Town’s emergency operations center (EOC).
